In Kenya, CCI has sponsored children for over 25 years and presently is supporting over 400 children in three different regions of the country. Home to 53 million people, Kenya gained its independence in 1963 and after presidential elections, tensions arose and remain throughout the country. Challenges for many children include having access to clean drinking water, healthcare, going to school, needing to work and support their families, as well as facing violence and exploitation. Coffee and tourism are its largest income generators.
