Yavins Education Centre in rural Uganda supports vulnerable children from low-income families, but it doesn’t have steady access to clean water, especially in the dry season. Right now, students and staff rely on water sources that are unreliable and sometimes unsafe, which affects hygiene, health, cooking, and the general learning environment. In many cases, children have to leave class to go and collect water, which cuts into learning time and can raise the risk of illness.
This project will set up a long-lasting rainwater harvesting system, with storage tanks, gutters, and a safe way to distribute water so the school can have clean water throughout the year. With dependable water, sanitation should improve, students’ health can be better protected, costs can go down, and the learning environment will be stronger for more than 200 children. By supporting this basic infrastructure, donors can help students stay in class, stay healthier, and spend more time focusing on their future.
